Solar Microinverters
Speaking of inverters….a solar microinverter’s primary function is to convert the direct current (DC) electricity generated by the solar panel into alternating current (AC) electricity which is used to power household appliances and feed into the electrical grid. Unlike string inverters which connect multiple solar panels in series, a microinverter is installed on each individual solar panel. Microinverters offer several advantages over string inverters. They optimize the performance of each solar panel by mitigating shading and panel-level differences in performance. Additionally, they enhance system reliability because the failure of one microinverter does not affect the performance of the entire system, as opposed to string inverters where a single malfunction can significantly reduce the output of the entire string. Furthermore, microinverters provide more granular monitoring capabilities, allowing users to monitor the performance of each individual panel remotely.
